Trunk weather stripping

The old 1997 generation weatherstripping profile
The trunk weatherstripping has been suffering from years of abuse, being shredded by lots of cargo moving in and out. When looking at similar vintage Crown Vics in the junkyard, this seems to be a common problem, so it's hard to find a good used one. OEM replacements don't appear to be available, and universal versions with a similar profile seem hard to locate, online at least. Since I had luck with using a newer generation stripping on the rear doors, I considered it might be possible to use the same tactic. The late nineties generation of Mustang trunk stripping looks like it's the same profile, but it's quite short in comparison. The newer generation Crown Victorias have a slightly different profile, but looked like they might work the same. I bought the best kept example from a 2001 used from the junkyard and found a similar generation Crown Vic in the yard to test with. The stripping is slightly longer by about 6 inches, so it has to be trimmed, but appears to fit rather well. Because the trunk lid outlines are different between the generations, it has to be "re-bent" and will probably take some time to reform. The AZ sun will take care of it.
